David Allen Landsdown was a man of means who went to North Georgia in the early 1800s with his 1st wife, probably named Martha, last name unknown. She died about 1837 and he married Juliann Martin, believed to be the daughter of William Martin of Georgia, further research is necessary to document this fact. Landsdown went by the name of ALLEN and was a member of the Georgia State Legislature in 1837; he was an Ensign in the Georgia Militia. Landsdown was born about 1801/2 in Wilkes County, NC and appears to be the son of Clary Landsdown, daughter of William Landsdown. A note of interest, Landsdown's property in Tate, GA, is across the road from the Pink Marble Mansion built by the Tate family and it consisted of 700 acres; the house burned in 1898.
